Rent reviews are, clearly, extremely important to landlords as they require their maximum rental growth, which improves their capital values, and are equally important, if not more so, to tenants, who, clearly, want to resist any unnecessary expenditure on rental property.

Rent reviews are a mix of negotiation, understanding case law, appreciating lease terms, assessing/correlation of rental evidence, and application to market practise.

Lease renewals are similar to rent reviews but require a greater degree of agency knowledge as well as it is, obviously, important to ensure modern lease terms are entered into, whilst appreciating that occupational tenants still have rights under their old leases.
